Yeoville police arrested a woman for concealment of birth in Yeoville.
According to police they received a complaint of a foetus dumped in a dustbin at the corner of Kenmere Road and Page Street.
Yeoville police Constable Thabo Malatji said an intensive investigation was launched and a woman in her early twenties was arrested. Malajtji said, “It is alleged that the woman performed an illegal abortion and dumped the foetus in a dustbin wrapped in a plastic bag.”
He said the woman was expected to appear in the Hillbrow Magistrate’s Court on charges of concealment of birth.
