Italian eatery promises a taste of authentic Italian cuisine

That's Amore is causing a buzz in Parktown North with its offering of authentic Italian food.

Bringing a taste of Italy to residents of Parktown North, That’s Amore Ristobar has been creating a buzz since its opening in April. The restaurant is owned by Italian-born chef Lorenzo Corleo and South African-Italian Alfonso Di Muro.

According to Roxanne Cruickshank, general manager of the Italian eatery, Carleo and Di Muro decided to open the restaurant because they wanted to offer customers authentic Italian food sourced straight from Italy.

“We import most of our ingredients from Italy, such as the olive oil used in our dishes, making it as authentic as possible,” she said.

Cruickshank added that both partners have been involved in the restaurants in the past, with Carleo having been in the business since his days of living in Italy. Di Muro, on the other hand, comes from a family of restaurateurs.

Cruickshank mentioned that having been open for little over a month has meant that few challenges have presented themselves.

“I can honestly say that apart from a few glitches, it’s been smooth sailing for us since opening,” she said.

She does concede that getting the right space was a challenge, something that took the partners just over a year to find.

“We had just about given up on getting the right space, when this space came up, so that worked out for us in the end,” she added.

Cruickshank has also been involved in the business, having previously worked as a manager for over five years.

Asked if there were any plans to expand and establish a franchise, Cruickshank said at the moment the focus remained on running the one restaurant successfully.

“Obviously we’d love to expand and it’s something we have looked into, but there are no immediate plans to do that,” she said.

With dishes that promise an authentic Italian experience, only the future can tell what pleasant surprises That’s Amore Ristobar has in store for patrons.
