Artistic tribute to MaBrrr

PARKHURST - The life and legacy of Brenda Fassie, the Madonna of the Townships, is celebrated in an art exhibition at Art Investments Gallery.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of legendary singer’s death from complications arising from a cocaine overdose.

Fassie became a household name in South Africa with hits like Weekend Special, Too Late for Mama, and Vulindlela.

The group exhibition features works by John Vusi Mfupi, Patrick Rapai, Isaac Mekgwe, Stompie Selebi, and Eric Sher.

“At Art Investments, we strive to develop young local artists by providing them not only with material resources to practice and master their art, but also with opportunities to share the same platforms with acclaimed artists, which helps expose them to new markets and build their professional profiles,” said the gallery’s project director, Thobile Disemelo.

“I am humbled to work with such great young artists. It is an honour to witness tomorrow’s icons growing today.”

The exhibition is at Art Investments Gallery, 7 Quinn Street, Parkhurst, until 30 June.
