ADT helps nab suspect in Craighall

Security company ADT helped Parkview police in apprehending a suspect in Craighall on 10 May.

The suspect is alleged to have pepper-sprayed a domestic worker at a Craighall residence before robbing the home. He was later found in possession of stolen property.

According to ADT, the security company received a call regarding suspicious people outside a premises in Devonshire Avenue.

“When ADT reaction officer Dignity Ncube responded to the incident, he saw a suspect fleeing from a premises in Rutland Avenue,” said ADT in a statement.

“Ncube called for backup, after which ADT reaction officer Caswell Nobela arrived to help apprehend the suspect.”

The domestic worker was transported to hospital for treatment and the suspect handed over to Parkview police.

Spokesperson for Parkview police, Seargent Lloyd Ramovha said the man was charged with being in possession of stolen property and appeared in court on 12 May.

“The bail hearing was remanded for a later date and the suspect remains in the custody of the police,” he said.

Ramovha said the police work very closely with security companies in the area and maintain good communication through weekly meetings and mutual updates.

Clive Humphrey, managing director of ADT Central Region, praised the officers for their prompt response and apprehension of the suspect.
