Jacques Brel alive and well

HOUGHTON - Melt away the winter chills with the music of French music legends Jacques Brel and Francoise Hardy at Foxwood Theatre.

Theatre manager Clive Rodel said he was delighted to announce the brand new show, Jacques Brel, So Alive, So Well!, which will run in May and June.

Written and directed by Paul Spence, and starring top-class local entertainer Cat Simoni, the show will feature some classic Brel songs including Marathon, Brussels, Amsterdam, Carousel (La Valse a Mille Temps), Madelaine, The Bulls (Les Toros), If We Only Have Love (Quand on a que L’amour), and Marieke.

Hardy’s fabulous pop hits, like Find Me a Boy (Tous les Garcons et les Filles), All Over the World, and Catch a Falling Star, will also be given voice by Simoni.

Spence and Simoni previously worked together on the Barbra Streisand tribute show The Way We Were, and Noel & Gertie and West End to Broadway.

Simoni spent a decade entertaining at five-star London venues including The Ritz and Dorchester hotels, while Spence has worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company, and in theatres from Vienna to Copenhagen to Tokyo.

“When Brel meets Hardy in a 1960s Paris cafe… Oooh la la C’est magnifique,” enthused Rodel.

Jacques Brel, So Alive, So Well! will run from 30 May until 1 June, from 6 until 8 June, from 13 until 15 June, and from 20 until 22 June, at Foxwood Theatre, 13 5th Street, Houghton Estate, with shows at 8pm and 12pm.
