According to Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck, preliminary results suggest that the Democratic Alliance dominated the provincial votes within his ward.

Provincial voting in Blairgowrie saw the Democratic Alliance (DA) swooping 81 percent of the votes and the African National Congress (ANC) only getting 12 percent.

According to Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck the Democratic Alliance has seen a 18 percent growth ANC votes have decreased by 18 percent since the 2009.

In Parkhurst, the results of the 2014 elections matched those from the 2011 ward elections.

The DA had 83 percent of the votes for provincial while the ANC managed to receive 12 percent

“In 2009, The DA received 69 percent and the the ANC 16 percent,” he said.

In Rosebank, the DA also dominated with around 68 percent of the votes going to the party and 20 percent to the ANC.

Truluck said the DA took a hit in the Rosebank area in this year’s elections – in 2009 the DA had dominated the area with 90 percent.

Saxonwold results revealed that 67 percent of the voters preferred the DA. It would also appear as though votes that went to COPE in the 2009 election were spread out to other parties in this year’s election.
