Murder suspects nabbed

Yeoville police arrested three suspects in connection with murder and allegedly in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunitions.

Yeoville police arrested three suspects in connection with a murder, and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunitions.

According to police the suspects who are aged 24, 26 and 29 allegedly shot dead a security guard on 18 April this year in Hunter Street and robbed him of his belongings. Yeoville police spokesperson Constable Thabo Malatji said the police received information from the public about the whereabouts of the suspects, and the three men were found standing on the street.

He said the police searched them and found two unlicensed firearms, a .38 special revolver and a norinco with serial numbers filed off. “They (police) took the suspects to their place of residence and found 37 live rounds of ammunition.”

The suspects were expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on charges of murder, and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunitions.
