An alleged drunk driver was arrested after he collided with the vehicle that was transporting the head of Hawks in Gauteng, General Shadrack Sibiya.
The incident took place in Club Street, Linksfield, at the entrance to the Huddle Park Golf and Recreation Park.
According to police, Sibiya’s driver was waiting for oncoming traffic as he intended to turn right into the golf course when the incident occurred.
Norwood police spokesperson, Constable Nonzwakazi Tsoanyane said no one was injured in the accident. The driver of the other car was detained as there were suspicions of drunk driving.
She said, “The driver was taken to a district surgeon for blood tests and was later charged with reckless and negligent driving, and with driving under the influence of alcohol.” The 45-year-old suspect was expected to appear at Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court.
