Yeoville police nabbed two suspects in connection with the theft of copper cables in the area.

The incident took place on the corner of Page Street and Kenmere Road where, according to police, a member of the public called them after noticing two men in action, cutting electric cables on the pole of a street light.

Yeoville police spokesperson Thabo Malatji said the police reacted quickly and caught the two men in the act and arrested them.

Malatji said, “Both suspects were taken to the police station for detention and are expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court soon.

“We thank the members of the public for their co-operation, and urge more members to come forward with information that can help to curb copper cable theft in the area.”
