From 22 to 26 April, Minimax Performing Arts and the MindBurst Workshop will assist 150 refugee children to develop and stage their own musical theatre production from scratch at Sacred Heart College.

The Three2Six education project is hosted by the college in Observatory, which makes its classrooms available to refugee children in the afternoons.

Children from Grade 1 to Grade 6 attend and learn languages, maths and life skills. Refugee teachers and volunteers manage the project.

During the school holidays, the Three2Six children are able to come to school in the mornings and do activities that are not part of their usual programme.

MindBurst Workshop, a company which facilitates critical and creative thinking skills has conducted previous holiday programmes.

In 2012, it organised an ambitious art project which enabled the children to work with professional artists and produce carefully considered works.

The project, Journey with an Artist and the exhibition that grew out of it, raised more than R47 000 for the Three2Six Project.

The performance of the musical production will be on 26 April. The money raised will contribute towards the running of future holiday programmes for refugee children. Tickets are available at Sacred Heart College, on request or by invitation.
