Wits Art Museum to host talkabouts on upcoming exhibitions

The Wits Art Museum will play host to artists such as Jodi Bieber this month with the events they have planned.

With the opening of art exhibition, Ngezinyawo – migrant journeys around the corner, the Wits Art Museum is offering art enthusiasts a month full of insightful talkabouts.

These will be presented by curators from the museum and artists such as Jodi Bieber.

The highly anticipated exhibition which opens 10 April, will focus on a migrant’s journey and the influence it has on the history of African art.

Also on the calendar is an exciting adult talkabout by artist Jodi Bieber on her exhibition Between Darkness and Light. The artist will take viewers on a journey through her recent exhibition and her talkabout will take place on 26 April at 12pm.

Gina de Oliveira will host the first drop-in drawing on 5 April at 12pm at the museum and will focus on the drawing spaces at the museum galleries.

Artist Tshegofatso Mabaso will also host a Sunday talkabout titled Permanent collections illuminated, which will focus on a few special pieces currently on exhibition in the Street gallery.

Fellow artists, Fiona Rankin-Smith and Leigh Blanckenberg will host talkabouts on the upcoming exhibition Ngezinyawo – migrant journeys. Smith’s talk will be for adults while Blanckenberg’s talk will include fun activities for families and children between the ages of six-12.
