Smokehouse and Grill causing a buzz in Braamfontein

The Smokehouse and Grill offers customers a unique taste with their smoked ribs and made-from-scratch desserts.

Having opened it’s doors a little over four months ago, the restaurant has been causing a buzz among customers with a variety of dishes on offer.

Steve Ford, general manager of the restaurant, explained the reason behind the decision to opening the Smokehouse. “We obviously wanted to offer our customers something different you know, something original,” he said.

He added that Nick Catzevelous, the owner of The Smokehouse, decided to open the restaurant in Braamfontein because the area was seen as a vibrant one with a variety of clientele.

“Time has changed and the area has changed too, it’s more vibrant and lively and has the perfect clientele of students and people living in the city,” he added.

Ford and Catzevelous have both been involved in the restaurant business for some time, with Catzevelous coming from a family of restaurateurs. Ford has owned and managed a number of restaurants for more than 30 years.

“I became the manager of the Smokhouse after Nick approached asked me to get involved; I thought the concept was a good one so I agreed to come on board,” he added.

Ford explained what set the restaurant apart from others. “We have a different way of cooking our food and the reason for that is we are trying to offer South Africans something different,” he added.

Ford mentioned that future plans for the restaurant included exploring the growth and potential of the restaurant. “We’re looking to see if any opportunities are available for expanding and we’ll take it from there,” Ford said.

The smokehouse and grill is located in 73 Juta Street in Braamfontein.
