Suspect nabbed for business break-in

Cops arrested a suspect for an attempted business break-in in Rosebank.

According to police, the 36-year-old suspect jumped over a wall of a business in Keys Avenue and climbed onto the roof of the building.

“The suspect gained access to the building through the roof and also damaged it in the process,” said police spokesperson Sergeant Bongi Mdletshe. He triggered the alarm in the process.

When the suspect became aware that the alarm had been triggered, he allegedly broke down the front door in a bid to escape.

“Fortunately a security company had responded to the alarm,” said Mdletshe.

When security arrived on the scene, the suspect tried to flee and a chase ensued. “However he was apprehended just a few metres from the crime scene,” said Mdletshe.

Police were called and promptly arrested the suspect, he is expected to appear in Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on charges of an attempted business break-in.
