Still going potty
With an assortment of tableware, garden and décor pots available, Liebermann pottery has cemented its place as a trusted community pottery provider.
The seasoned pottery business was established in 1956 by Sammy Liebermann and has evolved in the past 58 years into an established brand.
According to manager Adriaan Turgel, Liebermann pottery began as a small business solely focused on producing tableware, but now also sells gardening and décor pots.
“Despite the growth, most of the business remains focused on providing tableware for homeowners and restaurants, and décor equipment,” Turgel said.
Turgel added that their store catered for a wide range of people, from individuals to big corporations and despite challenges faced by new trends, the pottery always managed to remain afloat.
“I can honestly say that tenacity has kept Liebermann pottery open through the changes,” he added.
In the face of new trends, Turgel said he hoped the business could overcome some of the challenges facing it, which included a lack of involvement from young people in the pottery business and a general growing disinterest in the industry.
“It would obviously be helpful if young people got involved in the business as we need young blood too,” Turgel said.
Liebermann pottery is also involved in community projects, mentoring young minds and getting involved in school projects.
The business has a factory in Marlboro and a shop situated in Cape Town.
