Vote for your favourite food blog

The hunt for the 2014 Eat Out Zonnebloem Produce Awards best local food blog is on.

Public voting for the category opened on 5 March.

The awards – an official project of World Design Capital 2014 – acknowledge and celebrate outstanding independent South African food producers, food markets and outlets for their innovation, passion, integrity and care for the environment.

Winners are those who deliver a consistently high-quality product that is South African-grown. Due care and consideration for both the environment and workforce are essential criteria.

Eat Out editor-in-chief Anelde Greeff said, “Every year we find ourselves amazed at the talent that South Africa’s small producers have to offer, and we relish being able to recognise them and the critical role that outlets and markets play.”

Bloggers nominated for the best local food blog focus mainly on food, in the form of recipes, photography, reviews or cooking tips and tricks.

They support food that’s grown nearby or ingredients that are produced locally, and champion the South African food industry.

Judges are looking for an attractive and entertaining blog.

Nominations have been submitted and the following eight finalists have been selected:
