Parkhurst, Greenside and Craighall left in the dark

Households and businesses in Parkhurst, Greenside and Craighall Park were left in the dark on Tuesday after a substation tripped.

Although power was restored, residents were without power for almost three hours. Traffic lights were also affected.

Natashia Bearam tweeted: “Oh no, business in the dark! No power in Greenside @CityPowerJhb how long this time?” The power utility responded saying, “This is due to Parkhurst feeder cable that is currently off.”

Technicians were dispatched and at 2pm City Power tweeted “Parkhurst feeder restored. The outage was caused by protection system failure.”
