The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) released their candidate list of “fearless, grounded and selfless activists,” at the Orion Hotel in Braamfontein.

The party announced that its leader and former ANC Youth League president, Julius Malema would be the party’s presidential candidate in the May 7 general elections. It will contest all 830 seats, including national parliament and all provincial legislators.

“It is [only] the EFF and ANC contesting 830 positions; not even the DA was able to come close to this figure, which is an indication that the EFF’s intentions are serious,” said Malema.

The EFF’s Gauteng Premier candidate is Dali Mpofu, who is representing arrested and injured miners in the Farlam Commission of Inquiry. The commission is investigating the deaths of 44 people at Lonmin’s platinum mining operations in Marikana.
