Guided walks will give sightseers the opportunity to learn more about the flora, fauna, geology and history of this green space.
On 1 March, a walk with dogs will take place on Melville Koppies West.
This section of the reserve features a kloof, a steep rocky gorge, a quartzite cliff, and a small cave in which were found Late Stone Age artefacts.
On 2, 9 and 16 March, guided walks on Melville Koppies Central will take place.
Melville Koppies Central is the oldest part of the reserve, and contains the remains of stone-walled kraals, a Late Stone Age living floor, and five different micro-environments.
On 23 March, a three-koppie hike will take walkers from Melville Koppies Central to the reserve’s other sections, Melville Koppies East and West.
This hike will cover the geology, archaeology, history, flora and fauna of the reserve.
