Get involved in healing communities

Established in 1949, the centre initially focused on addressing relationship issues – has now evolved to dealing with schools, families and couples in areas far beyond Parkwood.

The centre now operates as a non-profit organisation with outreach community programmes and counselling services in areas such as Soweto, Alexandra, Diepsloot and Westbury. It also has offices in the Johannesburg City Centre, Lenasia South, and Ivory Park.

The centre still caters to the local community, offering services such as family therapy, marriage preparation and enrichment programmes.

Pam Gillingham, director of the centre described it as being “an accredited training centre… and one offering an array of skills development training programmes and workshops”.

Part of their work includes providing personalised services to schools in each of the communities it serves. These services include anti-bullying workshops, group and individual counselling sessions and assistance to teachers.

Gillingham stressed the impact the organisation had in the communities it served and said that without funds the centre would be unable to continue its work.

“We are always in need of funds to continue our work and would be appreciative of any contribution to our organisation,” she added.
