Church’s season for everything

PARKVIEW - The St Francis Singers of Parkview will present a programme of Christian seasons on 2 March.

Under the leadership of music director Ruth Coggin, the choir will take a musical walk from Advent through Easter to Pentecost.

Those attending will have an opportunity to join in some of the best known and loved hymns of the Christian year.

“We are presenting this programme just before the start of Lent, a time of reflection for the church as it prepares for the great festival of Easter,” said Coggin.

“We felt it would be a good time to remind ourselves of all the seasons of the church, as part of that Lenten preparation.”

Favourites such as God so loved the world from John Stainer’s Crucifixion and Thomas Tallis’ If ye love me will be interspersed with music from more recent times.

The programme will start at 5pm at the St Francis Anglican Church in Parkview.

Inbetween, a commentary that has been specially written by communications consultant Theo Coggin, will link the church’s seasons to those of the natural world.

After the presentation, which will last about one hour, hot cross buns and refreshments will be served.

There is no entry fee, and no advance booking, so members of the public are advised to come early to secure a seat.

Parking is available in Tyrone Avenue with car guards on duty.
