St John’s excel in quiz

HOUGHTON - St John’s Preparatory School’s Kids’ Lit Quiz Team was victorious in the national finals of the competition held in Cape Town on 15 February.

The team competed against the top nine Kids’ Lit Quiz teams from around the country.

Dubbed the “Olympics of Reading”, the Quiz tests the teams’ literary knowledge of anything ever written for children.

New Zealander Wayne Mills, quiz master and creator of the quiz, travels around the world testing children’s literary knowledge.

He said a passion for books and reading from a very young age are the secret to success for these young readers.

The St John’s boys will compete against winning teams from Canada, USA, UK, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia and New Zealand in the World Finals to be held in Cornwall, UK in July.
