Valentine’s Day with the perfect pair
JOBURG - Spread the love this February by sharing and pairing local craft beer with restaurant cuisine.
“Traditionally, Valentine’s Day is reserved for couples. This year, we’re saying why not spend your day with the perfect couple? A South African craft beer paired with a signature dish,” said Febrewery founder Chris Verrijdt.
Verrijdt said he was thrilled with the response the month-long food and craft beer pairing initiative had received since the 1 February launch.
“People have really bought into the idea that you can pair beer with food,” he said.
“It’s great to see how the month of love has become the month of love for craft beer paired with local food.”
The paired dishes available include Illovo restaurant Rabbit in the Moon’s smoked salmon ceviche with CBC Crystal Weiss, Rivonia restaurant Rocket’s red wine and mushroom fillet with Devil’s Peak’s First Light golden ale, and Illovo restaurant Beefcakes Burger Bar’s Greek God lamb burger with Citizen Alliance American amber ale.
