International speakers at Sydenham Shul

SYDENHAM - Rabbi Shmuley Boteach will be delivering one of the headline lectures at Sydenham Shul’s 2014 Learning Launch on 23 February. He will discuss the topic, “Sex, Sin & Seduction: What Does the Torah Say?”

Boteach was listed by The Jerusalem Post as one of the “50 most influential Jews in the world”. His 29 best-selling books have been translated into 20 languages and he has appeared on America’s most-watched TV shows including Oprah, Dr Phil, The Today Show, and The View.

Another speaker, Rabbi David Lapin is CEO of Lapin Consulting International, and has been active in international business for nearly 30 years. He was the founder of the South African Institute of Business Ethics, an architect of the Code of Ethics for the first King Commission on Corporate Governance and a regular columnist for The Star newspaper.

Lapin’s topic for the launch is “Are Jews really so clever? Is it a myth, or do Jews have a competitive edge?” He will be answering this question on 27 February at 8pm.

Sydenham Shul has partnered with Chevra Kadisha Social Services and on 26 February they will be co-hosting Johannesburg psychologist Dr Joel Shapiro on “Marriage & Beyond: Courageous Conversations to Improve all our Relationships.”

On 24 February and 25 February the Rabbis and Rebbetzins of Sydenham Shul will be giving sample Shiurim which are open to the public. Rabbis Yossy Goldman and Yehuda Stern will share a ‘Taste of Talmud’ while Rebbetzins Rochel Goldman and Estee Stern will offer a ‘Taste of Torah’ respectively.
