Homes ransacked by armed suspects

Police continue to look for suspects after two homes were ransacked in Craighall this past week.

Both crimes took place in the week ending 4 January.

According to Princess Mudau of the Parkview police, the first case took place in Balmoral Street at around 7.30pm just as the victim was about to leave the house.

“The victim was then stopped by an armed man and told to turn off off the car,” said Mudau.

“The suspect then forced the victim out of his car and took his money from his wallet which was in his boot,” she said.

According to Mudau, the suspect took the victim back into the house to his bedroom, where they found another suspect holding the victim’s wife and baby at gunpoint.

Mudau said the two men demanded to see the safe before taking the couple’s jewellery, cellphones, a flat screen TV, computer pad, sound system and the wife’s handbag.

Another home was targeted not long afterwards when seven armed men stormed into a house and forced the resident and her family to lie on the floor.

“The suspects tied the victims with electrical cords and demanded their valuables and money and then demanded access to the safe but found nothing inside it,” added Mudau. The suspects proceeded to take the victim’s handbag which contained her ID book, driver’s license, money, jewellery, laptop and cellphone.
