Allocation of special budget to Parktown North

The Parktown North Ratepayers and Residents Association have been allocated a special budget for this year by the ward councillor for visible service delivery in the community.

This announcement was made by the association’s chairperson, Lee-Ann Louverdis.

“We’ve been very active and visible in a short amount of time and as a result, the city council noticed this and decided to reward us for a job well done,” Louverdis said. The benefit for the suburb will be that any maintenance listed by the association will get taken care of by the City of Johannesburg.

Parktown North was chosen as the most deserving among all the other suburbs in Ward 117.

Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck elaborated on the nature of the budget and said it would be used to fix problems in the suburb, and work through the bigger issues over a month.

He explained that an urban inspector assigned to the ward will assist in determining the problems.

“Basically this is extra-attention given to a certain suburb from the budget allocated to the ward,” he said.

He also highlighted the drastic changes that have taken place in Parktown North since Louverdis and her team took over last year.

He praised the managing committee for the work they have done since taking over.

“Lee-Ann has been very proactive in reviving the association. She, together with her team, is a powerhouse and you can see the difference in the community,” he added.
