Police successes

PARKVIEW - The Parkview police made many arrests and confiscated tools of the crime trade in the first few weeks of the new year.

In Roosevelt Park, two suspects were arrested for being in possession of car-breaking implements and driving a suspected stolen vehicle.

According to Parkview police spokesperson Princess Mudau the police were conducting a routine crime prevention drive in the area when they spotted a suspicious-looking white VW polo parked outside a house which appeared to have been hosting an event.

“The police stopped to investigate. As they approached the car, the two suspects got into their car and drove off.

“The police gave chase and were able to stop the suspects and search the car,” said Mudau.

“Two cell phones, a computer box without a serial number, a plug socket and a sharpened Ellen key were discovered in the car.”

Mudau said upon checking the registration number of the vehicle it was discovered that it did not match that of the disc.

“The men were then arrested taken to the police station,” she said.

Police also arrested a suspect in Emmarentia for possession of counterfeit Bastille South African tour 2014 hats on the same day.

Mudau said the 24-year-old suspect was apprehended at a music concert following a complaint that he was selling the counterfeit goods without at a licence.

The suspect was taken to the Parkview police station and he appeared at the Hillbrow magistrate’s court on January 13.
