Gardener scares off house robber

NORWOOD - Police are investigating a house robbery incident where a suspect threatened a homeowner with a knife and allegedly took cash.

Police spokesperson Constable Nonzwakazi Tsoanyane said the woman was at her Linksfield Ridge home with her daughter and gardener on the premises.

“When she went to lock the front door, she saw a man, who then grabbed her by the neck,” said Tsoanyane. The suspect allegedly drew a knife, threatened to kill the woman and demanded cash.

Tsoanyane said the suspect took R300 in cash from the woman’s handbag and demanded a laptop. “The woman screamed to her daughter and she called the gardener, who came and scared the suspect [off],” she said. The suspect allegedly fled the scene and no arrests have been made.

Tsoanyane appealed to any members of the public who may have information that could lead to an arrest to come forward.
