Man jumps to his death

Hillbrow police have opened an Inquest Docket following the death a 24-year-old man who allegedly jumped out of a 14th floor window.

Police spokesperson Constable Mduduzi Zondo said early in the morning on 8 January, a man was in the kitchen of his 14th-floor flat at Vickers Place, corner Caroline and Twist Streets. “According to the information we have, the man just opened the window and jumped out,” said Zondo.

Zondo said paramedics were called and immediately declared the man dead on the scene. It is unclear why the man jumped out the window.

The man allegedly plunged onto the roof of the building’s basement and presumably died due to injuries sustained during the fall.

Last year a 10-year-old boy jumped out an 11th-floor window at the same building after allegedly being questioned by his mother about his whereabouts.
