In an apparent cash heist in Yeoville, a security guard managed to fight off his attackers who shot at him.
According to police, five men attacked a G4s cash-in-transit security guard at the intersection of Raleigh Street and Kenmere Road. Police spokesperson Constable Thabo Malatji said the men tried to rob the security guard on his way back to the cash-in-transit van after he had collected money from a local betting outlet. Malatji said, “The security guard resisted and a scuffle ensued. One of the attackers shot the security guard in the shoulder and a bystander was also shot in the thigh.”
Malatji added the suspects fled the scene and no arrests were made. He said the police were investigating the incident.
