Theatre shows Seussical Jr

Parents are invited to take their little ones to the National Children’s Theatre in Parktown during school holidays for the Sessusical Jr show which started on November 4 until December 22.

Characters, Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Getrude McFuzz and Mayzie-La-Bird are expected to wow the audience with what promises to be an energetic show.

The story is centred around Horton the elephant as he finds himself having to protect his tiny friend, JoJo the Who and all the other Whos of Whoville.

He finds himself tasked with having to take care of an abandoned egg left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie LaBird when she goes on vacation.

The story takes a turn for the worse when hunters capture Horton and together with the egg he is taken to the travelling circus.

The audience will be on the edge of their seats wondering if Horton will be able to take care of Mayzie’s egg.

The production, made possible by part of a R3 million grant funded by the National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund, has cast a multi-talented ensemble of professional actors who will combine many favourite Dr Seuss stories in an effort to remind audiences of the power of friendship, loyalty, family and community.
