In the CCTV footage of the Norwood restaurant, the girl, accompanied by two women sat at a table, moments later one of the women seemed to signal something to the girl and she walked over to another table where two patrons were having lunch. The little girl took a white iPhone from one of the patrons’ handbag and rejoins the two women accompanying her.
The trio then left the restaurant within 5 minutes of entering without ordering anything. Police believed the incident was planned and the child was being used by the two women, who had not been identified.
Police spokesperson Nonzwakazi Tsoanyane urged the public who may have information about the alleged syndicate to come forward and report it to the police. Details: 082-550-053
