PARKHURST – Parkview police reported that two men were robbed of R20 000 at gunpoint in Parkhurst, in broad daylight.

According to police spokesperson Princess Mudau, the incident occurred at 12.30pm on a Wednesday.

Mudau said the men had travelled to Edenvale to withdraw money and then drove to Parkhurst to collect a car.

“They parked near the corner of 4th Avenue and 5th Street, but before they could get out of the car, they were approached by two men. One went to the driver’s side, and shouted and banged on the window with a gun. He told the occupants to get out of the car,” said Mudau.

She said the second suspect did the same on the passenger side, and told the occupants that he knew they had “money in their pockets”.

The men got out of the car and gave the suspects R20 000 in cash. The suspects also demanded their car keys and cellphones.

“The value of the stolen items was estimated at R32 000. No arrests have been made yet,” said Mudau.
