The clean-up was in recognition of Glass Recycling Month, which drew to a close at the end of September with National Recycling Week.
The group collected 29 bags of waste on the stretch of the spruit between Parkhurst, Craighall Park and Delta Park.
In recognition of their efforts, the volunteers received t-shirts and cooldrinks from the company.
“We encouraged every South African to take time out to ensure their communities are continuously clean. [The] week was a great week to start afresh, and start recycling,” said company CEO Shabeer Jhetam.
Jhetam urged residents and business owners to encourage friends, family and colleagues to recycle glass if they weren’t already doing so.
