There are many empty houses or rooms in the suburbs around Rosebank, which pose a great security risk to the community when they are not cared for, as we often read.
If those houses or rooms could be made available to some of our station members and volunteers, it would be cost saving for our people, and it would be a huge improvement in the safety of our neighbourhood if police officers actually lived among communities.
I have been with the Rosebank police as a volunteer for well over 10 years, and because I happen to live in this area, I regard it as my “station”.
In that time I have seen various people coming and going, experienced ups and downs, especially the trauma of the fatal shootings that were part of our police station’s history.
We now have a new station commander, Lieutenant Colonel. Logan Govender, who is very experienced and highly qualified.
I have found Govender to be dynamic, intelligent and extremely committed to the idea to make Rosebank Police Station, once again, one of the best community service centres in town.
I hope that through this letter, we might establish some contacts with people in our community, who are willing to support this idea.
