Parkhurst couple followed, robbed in shop

PARKHURST - A Parkhurst couple and shopkeeper were robbed at gunpoint by two men.

According to Parkview police spokesperson Princess Mudau, the couple left their 6th Street home to go shopping around midday, and noticed that a grey Mercedes Benz drove alongside them.

“They continued (driving) to the shop and parked in the parking lot. The men followed them and also parked in the lot. Two men wearing balaclavas got out of the car, cocked their guns and ran into the shop after the couple,” said Mudau.

The men ordered the shopkeeper and the couple to lie down on the floor. They took the couple’s watches, jewellery and cash, and left the shop.

The value of the stolen goods was estimated to be over R200 000. No arrests have been made.
