Maryvale school bus is blessed by Archbishop

MARYVALE - Maryvale College chose to celebrate the Catholic Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary by getting a new school bus.

The school had a service for the blessing of the new bus which was therefore held at Our Lady of the Wayside Church, attended by all the learners from both the primary and high schools, as well as the teachers and many of the parents.

The children of the primary school presented a short play and the service included many joyful hymns of praise, in English, Zulu and seSotho.

This important occasion was attended by Archbishop Buti Thlagale, head of the Diocese of Johannesburg.

There was much rejoicing when the Archbishop announced that, according to a long tradition, when the Archbishop visits Maryvale College, all learners are given a day off school, and the college was accordingly closed the next day.

Maryvale College has been in existence since 1943 and continues to provide excellent education in a conveniently located and supportive environment.
