Pupil awarded a blazer of honour

PARKTOWN - A PARKTOWN Boys High School pupil James Gilbert has become one of the third recipients of the school's prestigious award of the Honours Blazer.

He received the blazer for achieving full colours in academics, sport and cultural activities.

Gilbert achieved more than 80 percent in his final Grade 11 exams in 2012 and 83 percent in his matric prelim exam. He is captain of the school’s rowing team as well as the school’s first eleven hockey team.

He was selected Gauteng Southern’ s under 21 hockey side this year. He was also awarded full cultural colours for his contribution to the school’s charity organisation called The Heart of the Lion.

Deputy principal Alan Monk said, “James set his goal of achieving the Honours Blazer three years ago and with hard work and determination finally succeeded when he was awarded the third of his colours awards for culture.”
