Each year the college awards scholarships for excellence in sport and music.
The criteria for these awards involve a rigorous examination in maths and English, as well as a panel interview for the academic scholarship.
The music scholarship is awarded based on an audition, which is adjudicated by a panel of outside specialists. The sports scholarship is awarded upon a CV examination and an interview.
Recipients of this year’s awards to girls entering Grade 8 at Kingsmead Senior School in the academic category were Lauren Courtney, Shivani Vishwakarma and Nokukhanye Magwegwe.
The scholarships for music went to Caitlin Gallagher and Amile Hood, and the sport scholarships were given to Alexandra Martin, Storm Hansen and Angela Welham.
