Sars brings services closer to the people

ALEXANDRA - People of this township will no longer have to travel all the way to the Johannesburg city centre to make their tax submissions to the South African Revenue Service.

The South African Revenue Service (Sars) has brought its services closer to the people of Alexandra.

A Sars team member educator Sandile Letseli, from Sars’ Branch Operations Engagement, said they had reached an agreement with the Greater Alexandra Chamber of Commerce and attorneys Ernest Nathan and Sonnenburg to bring the Sars services closer to the people.

“For the past three years, we have been coming every Wednesday of the month to attend to tax issues of the people of Alexandra, be they individuals wanting to make income tax returns submissions or small companies needing tax registrations or tax clearance certificates in order to conduct business.

“We attend to any queries the people of Alexandra might have regarding to taxation. We operate from the Motsweding offices of the chamber from 9am to 3pm every Wednesday and the public is welcome to engage us regarding their tax issues,” Letseli said.

He said the partnership was providing a vital service to the community, judging by the patronage they received each time they came to operate from Alex. “Such outreach programme also help Sars in reducing the amount of people that converge on our offices in the CBD while at the same time saving the community much-needed money and time.”
