JOBURG – Metrobus has failed to appoint an investigator to investigate allegations levelled against acting managing director Lawrence Maqekoane, South African Municipal Workers Union (Samwu) spokesperson Phanuel Tshikovha said.
Tshikovha said the bus company could not meet the seven-day deadline that was set, and has further vowed to appoint an investigator within two days.
“They (Metrobus) informed us that they haven’t appointed an investigator yet and has asked that the deadline be extended. We then asked them to inform our legal department about the agreement,” he added.
On 8 July, Metrobus drivers affiliated to Samwu downed tools for a week, demanding Maqekoane’s suspension, pending an investigation against him.
The strike was halted after the company agreed to appoint an investigator.
