Bumpy ride for motorists

KILLARNEY - Motorists using the pothole-riddled 8th Street in Killarney still have to endure the bumpy ride despite numerous calls to the road agency to repair the road.

The issue came to light at the monthly meeting of the New Killarney-Riviera residents association.

Residents hailed the road agency for heeding some calls to repair other roads, but emphasised that more work still needed to be done.

An appeal was made for some helping hands to fill potholes with gravel, but residents were cautioned not to put concrete in the potholes.

“Also be careful when addressing water or electricity repair-holes as the repair might not be finished yet,” according to the minutes of the meeting.

At the meeting, the residents also bemoaned the fact that the timing of the traffic light at the off-ramp into Riviera Road was still problematic.

The road agency was praised for repainting the road markings in Oxford Road and the yellow poles that hold up the traffic lights in Riviera Road.

There was still a need to repaint the street names.
