Region E residents tested for Covid-19

The City of Johannesburg Department of Health welcomed Region E residents to free tests for Covid-19. The tests were conducted at Balfour Park Mall.

Health workers, on 13 May, set up their gazebos with test kits and safety measures outside the parking area of the mall. The mass testing regulations stated that everyone should wear a mask. Residents were given seats on physically-distanced chairs before being asked questions and screened. The next line required them to fill in forms while they were sanitised in order for the tests, if deemed necessary, to be conducted.

Priority was given to senior citizens, those taking chronic medicine, those with symptoms, and immuno-compromised people. A relatively steady flow of residents attended the testing session.

Ward 74 councillor Dave Fisher encouraged residents to make full use of the services offered by the City’s health department. He said, “I encourage residents to take responsibility for their own safety by adhering to the lockdown regulations and making sensible and informed decisions about their activities.”

There were 320 residents screened and 286 tested. All positive cases will be informed as soon as results are out.
