Randjes Estate honours their volunteers

BALFOUR PARK – The Randjes Estate volunteer society was honoured on 15 November for their invaluable work.

The Randjes Estate in Balfour Park honoured their volunteer society with a special lunch held at their hall.

The Randjes Estate volunteer society is made up of 112 residents taking part in various endeavours. Some of the volunteer groups within the society include the gardening committee, the art group and library committee. The society also works on the day-to-day functioning of the estate such as assisting in the frail care section of the estate.

Event coordinator Margie Dolgoy said that the volunteer society does incredible work all around the estate and to show their appreciation for their work, a special western-themed lunch was organised to honour them on 15 November.

The members of the society were hosted at the Randjes Estate Hall, where they were treated to a special lunch and entertainment organised by the Yaboos Show Group, who set up special musical performances alongside the estate’s Tanglefoot Line Dancers.

Gail Kruger, general manager of the estate said that volunteering is one of the great examples of how working can pay off with something else rather than money. She added that the society has become a vibrant and supportive community within Randjes Estate and that this has been an important part of the success of the estate.

In her speech at the lunch, Kruger said, “We are here to honour and give a heartfelt thank you to all of you.”

The volunteer society residents were then treated to delicious food and drinks before dancing away the afternoon to some pleasant music.
