A colourful dash for charity

MELROSE - St Vincent School for the Deaf will host a fundraising fun run with a difference this August.

MELROSE – St Vincent School for the Deaf will host a fundraising fun run with a difference this August.

The 8km Colour Run will see participants start the race wearing white, but by the time they reach the finish line, they will have given a new meaning to the term ‘rainbow nation’.

“Runners will get bombed with colour at five colour stations along the route. There will also be prizes and giveaways, a children’s corner and a flea market on the day,” said ELB Engineering Services spokesperson Cornel Charlton.

The engineering services were behind the race, which is one of the company’s corporate social investment projects.

“Education is a cause close to our hearts, and since deaf children learn and experience the world visually, we decided to transform our fundraising initiative for the school into an explosion of colour,” she said.

The Colour Run will take place on 3 August at James and Ethel Gray Park, Birdhaven, at 8am.
Entries can be made online or at The Sweatshop, Randburg Runner, and at the school.
