Hannah Skeen secured four gold medals in individual dance categories.

St Teresa’s Junior Primary School in Craighall Park was thrilled to celebrate the Irish dancing journey of Grade 3 learner Hannah Skeen, who has progressed from a novice to a South African Champion in 18 months.

St Teresa’s marketing and admissions officer Lianda May said, “She quickly demonstrated a natural talent for this lively and technically demanding art form, and within six months she had earned three gold awards at her very first competition. Since then, Hannah has participated in several competitions, earning trophies and medals.”

The dancer was awarded distinctions for her Grade 1 and 2 dance exams earlier this year.

At the 20th anniversary of the South African Irish Dancing Championships held at Beaulieu College from September 27–29, Hannah showcased her dedication, hard work, and talent by securing four gold medals in individual dance categories.

In addition to her success, she also earned a bronze medal in the team dance for ages 8–10.

“The pinnacle of Hannah’s achievements came when she was awarded the first place trophy in the pre-championship in the 8 to 9-year-old beginner’s category. The win earned her the title of national champion in her age group which is a remarkable achievement in such a short period.”
