Ita Collins: I’ll be the head girl in 2025, I’m looking forward to being given the space and opportunity to interact with other learners. I don’t have the words to describe how I felt when I was announced as head girl but I have always looked up to the head girls we’ve had in the school and saw myself in them so for it to happen is a goal achieved. I play squash, and netball and am a swimmer.

Rosemary Chung: I am mostly excited to work with Grade 12’s because they are a group of people I have grown so much over the years with and I think we will do an amazing job improving the school and bringing new things. My duty will focus on the learners’ sacred time and their holistic wellness to make sure everyone is fine throughout the school term.
Isabella Quaker: I am excited to get to know the learners better. Everyone at Roedean has an incredible story and wants to make sure everyone is heard. As a quiet person, I will ensure that learners like myself have equal ground to be heard. As a head for most things, what I have been reminding myself is that it’s a team effort and not only me in this leadership position I have the entire SRC board to help me and other leaders to help me. The most important thing is that all the things I am head of are things that I enjoy, hence they do not feel taxing.

Imogen Preston: I am excited to get to know people in different grades and create those connections in a space where everyone is passionate about what they do in the climbing fraternity. My goal in this position is to create a structured rock-climbing team.
Nwabisa Phato: My role is to make the boarding environment as welcoming as possible for every learner. It is to make the place a home away from home and fun. I am also part of the chamber choir which is a nice escape because it is a space where everyone expresses themselves through their voice.

Outgoing matriculants
Neo Leseilane: This year I held the position of prefect and head of debating and was on the round square committee. One of my goals as head of debating was to recruit more learners into the extramural activity which came to fruition. One of the most interesting things I did was participate in several mathematics competitions. I also represented South Africa at the Pan African Mathematics Olympiad.
Cecilia Petersen: My leadership roles for 2024 included being part of the prefect body, head of the flute ensemble and vice-captain of water polo. My leadership roles were a good challenge, I was brought out of my comfort zone and made me reflect on the relationships I had with other people and how to keep those healthy.
