Boccia Bandits players look forward to upcoming championships

Boccia Bandits Sports Club athletes suffer from cerebral palsy and enjoy their boccia outings.

Boccia Bandits Sports Club athletes polished their throwing techniques and skills at Hollard’s headquarters on March 9 for the upcoming National Boccia Championships in Bloemfontein.

The chairperson Mary Bornman said, “The National Boccia Championships will be held from March 21–25. The players are part of the Gauteng Boccia team. All our players are top-ranking players under their boccia classification in South Africa.”

The team consists of Liakath Aziz, Lefi Kgosimolao, Samuel Tshilunga, and Siphiwo Papu and they have all represented South Africa at every African Boccia event.

She noted that the club was formed in 2013 due to top players not having a club to belong to after they left school, and have been going from strength to strength since.
