Pirates Club gives patrons gins to taste from
Patrons in their numbers attended the Pirates Club Spring Gin Day and enjoyed various gin flavours as well as live music.
Pirates Club welcomed spring with their Spring Gin Day.
The club provided a variety of gins for patrons to taste at the event on September 2. Live music also set the mood as people made their way to the event at the club in Greenside.
A hockey player at the club, Bonolo Mathibe reviewed the gins available and her favourite was the Cape Saint Blaize which costs upwards of R500. Tasting the Malfy Gin she said, “It is good with the elderflower and the original tonic, smooth, not strong.”
She also took a few sips of the Whitley Neill Handcrafted Gin, raspberry flavour, which she said could make a good cocktail mixer as it was too sweet to drink on its own.
Brand ambassador Thami Mweshi said the Whitley Neil could be used when making gin daiquiris or gin cosmos.
Pirates Club hockey member Crystal Bond also shared her review of the Malfy which she said was very good because they put a lot of flavour into their gins.
Mathibe also tasted the Cannameister Herbal Liqueur whose seller Grant Shippey said, “We buy molasses from KZN and make our alcohol from scratch and produce the gin in Melrose Arch. It is designed as a sipping gin and you cannot get a hangover from that.”
