Pirates hope to spook the Stellies while AmaKhosi will look to beat their Brazilian nemesis

The Buccaneers' Ghosts will be hoping to spook Stellenbosch FC in their MTN8 two-leg encounter while the other semi-final clash will see AmaKhosi looking to beat the Brazilians for the first time in two seasons.

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has confirmed the dates, venues, and kick-off times for the upcoming two-legged semi-final fixtures of the 2023/24 MTN8.

Kaizer Chiefs will be home to their nemesis Mamelodi Sundowns in the first leg of their clash on September 2 at FNB Stadium while the second leg fixture will take place at Lucas ‘Masterpieces’ Moripe Stadium on September 23.

The other semi-final bracket will see Stellenbosch FC hosting Orlando Pirates in their first-leg encounter on September 3 at Athlone Stadium in Cape Town while the return leg will be played at the Orlando Stadium on Heritage Day, September 24.

All four matches will kick off at 15:00 while the gates will open at 11:00 and the PSL will advise on ticketing information in due course.
It would be interesting to see whether the Brazilians will maintain their dominance over the Soweto Glamour Boys and make it two out of two in this MTN 8 two-legged semi-final showdown.

In the 2022/23 season, Masandawana managed the feat and beat AmaKhosi Amahle twice in the league and they have already put one over their nemesis in their first encounter of the 2023/24 season, meaning the Naturena-based side is still yet to beat the Chlorokop outfit in two seasons.

Bucs on the other hand, suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of the high-riding Stellies in their 2023/24 league opener and will be looking to make amends in their two-legged semi-final clash to emerge victorious.

The Ghosts or Sea Robbers, as Pirates are also known to their avid followers, will be looking to spook the Stellenbosch side to earn revenge for the loss they suffered against Steven Robert ‘Steve’ Barker-coached side that is seemingly riding the crest of a wave at the moment.
