Join Kairos School for their Kaleidoscope Market

Artisan stalls, food, drink and a variety of activities for children and adults will be on offer at the Kairos School of Inquiry annual Kaleidoscope Market in Parkview.

Kairos School of Inquiry’s annual Kaleidoscope Market event promises to be an enriching and meaningful day.

Each year towards the end of winter, this year being August 19, the Kairos Winter Kaleidoscope hosts bespoke artisan stalls, delicious food and drinks, and plenty of activities for children and adults alike.

The flagship stall will be the Kairos Cardboard Challenge, where children create arcade-style games for which they charge a small amount in the school’s local currency, called Kairosses (‘Rosses’ for short).

Kairos School, a primary school located in Parkview, believes in a holistic educational approach, integrating conventional schooling practices with modalities that serve a child’s emotional and social needs more consciously.

Marketing liaison at Kairos, Mwenya Chitambala said the Kaleidoscope was a community event intended to promote the idea that open-hearted and authentic relationships between teachers and learners were the heart of effective education and that such relationships would invariably create creativity and learning.

“Our approach to education at Kairos is different, through combining real-life skills with a deep sense of wonder and fun, our students achieve academic mastery with a genuine understanding of scholastic content and more importantly a deep understanding of themselves,” she said.

“Due to this robust primary school foundation that Kairos offers, our students are well-equipped to navigate the complexities of high school and a rapidly changing world thereafter. Kairos children continuously perform excellently in the International Benchmark Testing [administered by the local Independent Examinations Board] and achieve excellence in Higher Education.

Our effective and proven methodologies include employing experiential learning in the classroom and the playground with Integrated Studies that simulate an adult world,” said Chitambala.

In addition to the exciting activities and stalls at the Kaleidoscope Family Fun Day, there is an opportunity to win a two-night stay for two adults at the iconic Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve.

Raffle tickets can be bought on the day at Kaleidoscope or Kairos School at 011 646 6221. Several other exciting prizes are up for grabs too, including a R700 sponsored dinner at Pappas on the Square in Sandton; a term of sessions at the Art of Movement Dance; Yoga and Fitness Studio in Emmarentia; wine and gift hampers; craniosacral therapy sessions and much more.
